Batik Mahkota is the continuation of “Batik Puspowijoto” that established since 1956 at Sayangan Kulon No. 9 Laweyan Solo. “Batik Puspowijoto” was built by Mr. Radjiman Puspowijoto and Mrs. Tijori Puspowijoto (the late) with production of traditional handwriting batik and stamped batik which one of the most famous batik called batik “Mahkota PW”. The superior product on that time was “Tirto Tejo” motif. After the builder passed away, from 1993 up to 2005 “Batik Puspowijoto” was in vacuum production.
After determination of Laweyan as Kampoeng Batik on September 25th, 2004, stimulate the batik factory in Laweyan to produce batik again after a long vacuum of batik production. One of the resurgent batik factory is “Batik Puspowijoto” using name “BATIK MAHKOTA LAWEYAN”.
BATIK MAHKOTA LAWEYAN built on October 1st, 2005 by one of Mr./Mrs. Puspowijoto daughter (Juliani Prasetyaningrum) and supported by all the big family of Puspowijoto. The main product from this company is modern handwritings batik, besides traditional handwriting batik and stamped batik.
In BATIK MAHKOTA LAWEYAN there are showroom, production process, batik making workshop and Batik Puspowijoto Family Museum. Here, the guest could study about ancient batik collection, management archive and Batik Laweyan trading transaction long time ago.
