A beautiful colonial style house that has been carefully restored by several generation of batik emporium family. It is the site of batik tjokrosoemarto , one of the first and exporters in Indonesia, base in solo. This historical heritage itself played an important role during the Indonesian fight for independence which led to it being honored by the first president of Indonesia , Soekarno

Mr. Tjokrosoemarto had made batik since year 1900 to be distributed all around Indonesia and to be exported. In the struggle for freedom from colonialism era, he gave many contribution on monetary fund to Indonesian Government and help to keep stabilized the Indonesian currency against NICA currency. fter the independence, Mr. Tjokrosomemarto succed to build the people economy power by made the batik craft center in Laweyan area, Sragen, Jogjakarta, Ponorogo, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon and Lasem.

The house buildings about 1.800 m2 is the combination

in harmony between Javanese and European architecture,

behind the high walls, that is the specific identity of

Laweyan houses.

The house that was built on 1915 up to now still shine

the elegance of the oldiest beautiful house.

Since 1997, this house was declared by Tourim Minister, Joop Ave as the Indonesian Batik Monument and used for the Cultural and Tourism Agenda Nationally and Internationally
